Gunn says that she loves that her job allows her to stay physically active while helping people

"It was an easy decision to make when I realized I could integrate this with a demanding job, challenging tasks, and doing good deeds for others." My mother questioned me when I applied for a fire department position, saying, "I have never heard of a female firefighter before. Why you?" I said, "Why not me?"

Gunn says that she wanted to be a firefighter from the age of 19 and while most men think her job is cool others are a little 'intimidated'

With her male coworkers at the firehouse, Narten engages in football, CrossFit, and running. "I want to make sure I can keep up with the boys," she stated to The Daily Mail.

Gunn is now so strong that she can lift a fire truck in between saving lives
