What's New Coming on Disney+ This November 2022

Including the reappearance of well-liked characters, including Tim Allen and Willow.

The Christmas season is a time for traditions, looking back on warm memories from the past, and bringing back dated and dubious fan favourites to stream on your streaming service (see Hocus Pocus 2's premiere on Disney+ last month).

Disney+ is turning two of its classic movies into programmes starting in November. For further adventures of the short-statured, big-hearted hero, Willow (Nov. 30) returns to the universe of Ron Howard and George Lucas' 1988 fantasy film with the same title. The movie doesn't seem to be a universal favourite to me (I saw it in the theatre when I was around 7 and didn't like it; upon a recent rewatch, I was mostly shocked by how violent it is), but Disney's algorithm must know something I don't because the trailer shows they've invested a lot of money in this project.

The Santa Clauses, a sequel to the movie trilogy in which Tim Allen was cursed to become Santa (The Santa Clause, 1994), marry an immortal (The Santa Clause 2, 2002), and fight a robot army, is also forthcoming on November 16. (The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause, 2006). Despite the fact that Disney-owned ABC cancelled his TV show and Pixar took away the character of Buzz Lightyear from him for the petty offence of being a reasonable conservative prepared to speak out against the woke epidemic, Allen continues in his job. Cancel culture makes a comeback!
