What Beyoncé Eats in a Day

Please note, this is an example of a meal plan Beyonce uses when she’s not on a diet.

Diets and Plant-Based Meals

The Coachella Diet

After giving birth to her twins, Rumi and Sir, Beyoncé had to quickly shift the baby weight for her headlining Coachella performance. To do so, she followed a strict plant-based diet, which included plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables, and healthy fats like avocado.

As mentioned in her Homecoming documentary, to reach her target goal, Sasha Fierce cut out the carbs, alcohol, dairy, meat, fish, bread and sugar.

This differed slightly from a regular plant-based diet, meaning that all she consumed was fruits, vegetables, beans, healthy grains and nuts for 44 days straight.

While there’s no official name for the ‘Beychella diet’, it’s said to be similar to a vegan keto diet, according to Diet Doc.

List of Foods:

  1. Healthy grains like oats, quinoa and buckwheat
  2. Beans and legumes like black beans, chickpeas, kidney beans.
  3. Nuts like almonds, Brazil nuts, walnuts
  4. Seeds like hemp seeds and chia seeds
  5. Non-starchy vegetables like Brussels sprouts, zucchini, broccoli
  6. Fruits like avocados and berries

The 22 Day Diet

2018 wasn’t the first time she went vegan. Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z announced their 22-day vegan diet back in 2013, where they ate foods like leafy veggies, fresh berries, and even vegan pizza for 22 days straight.

Speaking on her healthy food choices, the singer said,

“The benefits of a plant-based diet need to be known. We should spend more time loving ourselves, which means taking better care of ourselves with good nutrition and making healthier food choices.”

List of Foods:

  1. Leafy greens like kale, spinach and beet greens
  2. Other veggies like asparagus, corn, Portobello mushrooms, and sweet potatoes
  3. Fresh berries like blackberries and blueberries
  4. Other fruits like avocado, apples and apricots
  5. Whole grain cereals and breads
  6. Vegan pizzas
  7. Plant-based lasagna penne
  8. Plant-based Sloppy Joes
  9. Vegan mac and cheese
  10. 22-Days Nutrition protein powder and protein bars

The Master Cleanse

Crash diets aren’t recommended, as they lead to malnutrition, however, to slim down for her role in Dreamgirls, Beyoncé put herself on The Master Cleanse diet (also known as the Lemonade diet).

Essentially, she only drank a beverage made of water, lemon juice, maple syrup, and cayenne pepper for 14 days straight.

The Lemonade star later admitted that she was constantly hungry and would never do it again;

“I wanted to lose weight and make a physical transformation. And it was difficult because I love food. I love to eat…Everybody was eating Krispy Kremes around me. I was grouchy, but I did it and I lost the weight.”

List of Liquids:

  1. Salt water – 4x every morning
  2. Herbal laxative tea – 1x at night
  3. Lemonade (fresh lemon or lime juice, maple syrup, cayenne pepper and water) – 6-12x during the day

Please note: According to WebMD, the Master Cleanse is not 100% healthy or beneficial.

General Meals

After Beyonce’s crash diets and vegan stints, she admitted to eating regularly:

“Now, you know, I still eat meat. It’s all about balance, but absolutely I make better choices…”

Beyoncé’s typical day starts off with breakfast which consists of a veggie smoothie, scrambled egg whites or whole-grain cereal with low-fat milk.

Her lunch and dinner usually include plenty of fish and vegetables, and she avoids red meat and replaces rice and pasta with quinoa. The singer has also shared her love for pitta bread and avocado toast on Instagram.

Her favorite salad from Café Gratitude includes ingredients like kale, cucumber, carrots, nori sheets, cilantro basil scallions and toasted almonds – health galore! This is usually topped with tahini, lemon, olive oil, garlic, and sesame oil dressing.

Another crunchy salad fave includes arugula, red quinoa, cantaloupe and slivered almonds, topped with olive oil, apple cider vinegar and maple syrup.

List of foods:

  1. Scrambled egg whites
  2. Whole grain cereals
  3. Veggie smoothies
  4. Quinoa
  5. Fish
  6. Vegetables
  7. Bammy
  8. Salads
  9. Pitta bread
  10. Soups

Cheat Meals

Queen B isn’t one to occasionally shy away from the ‘unhealthy’ foods that she loves, too. She confessed during an interview with Cosmopolitan that her specialty is spaghetti and sandwiches.

Beyoncé has admitted that she’s a true foodie and looks forward to her weekly cheat meals. In an interview with Shape, she said:

“I always treat myself to one meal on Sundays when I can have whatever I want. Usually it’s pizza, which is my favorite indulgence”.

Throughout the years, we’ve seen her love for In-N-Out cheeseburgers and spicy pizza with jalapeños and extra tomato sauce – yes, she really does love that hot sauce!

In addition to your regular junk, Queen Bey loves her soul food including chicken, red beans, rice and cornbread. She also loves mac and cheese and other carb-fueled meals on a Sunday.

Beyoncé’s general rule is that she eats a healthy, low-carb diet, but also has one cheat meal per week (not per day – like the rest of us) where she can enjoy the foods that she really loves!

List of foods:

  1. Pizza
  2. In-N-Out cheeseburgers
  3. Fried chicken
  4. Cornbread
  5. Rice
  6. Mac and cheese
  7. Spaghetti
  8. Sandwiches
  9. Noodles

Snacks

Mrs Carter doesn’t have too many diva requests, but one of her very few is that no junk food is allowed backstage. Instead, she must have almonds and oatcakes on a glass platter (fancy!).

She’s not one to have unhealthy snacks in her cupboard, either. If Bey does need to snack, she’ll have a handful of healthy nuts, an apple or a protein bar.

Another ‘snack’ Beyoncé likes to munch on are hand-carved ice balls to soothe her throat after shows (normal!).

List of foods:

  1. Almonds
  2. Oatcakes
  3. Apples
  4. Protein Bars
  5. Dark chocolate

Treats

In 2008, Marie Claire UK revealed that Beyoncé strictly cuts out the bad snacks including no chips, no candy, and no fried food.

But like the rest of us, Bey has a real weakness for chocolate and occasionally likes to get “chocolate-wasted”! We’ve seen her share her love for Kit-Kats on her Instagram, as well as flavored popcorn. Slurpees and cupcakes are also some of her naughty faves.

Beyoncé doesn’t restrict herself from having a treat when she’s on a plant-based diet, too. She enjoyed the sweet-tasting protein bars that included peanut chocolate-chip nirvana, cherry chocolate bliss and pineapple chocolate-chip wonder.

List of foods:

  1. Kit-Kat
  2. Popcorn
  3. Slurpees
  4. Cupcakes
  5. Cheetos

Drinks

Hydration is a high-priority to Mrs Carter, and if you’ve been wondering what the secret ingredient is to her radiant skin, then wonder no more!

Bey kicks off every day with a glass of lemon and water, and drinks at least a gallon of it per day. She told People magazine:

“I try to take care of myself, drinking at least a gallon of water with lemon a day and making sure to take my vitamins”

She also enjoys cold-pressed juices, but drinks Gatorade if she feels like she needs it.

Unlike other celebs, Bey doesn’t deprive herself of alcoholic beverages, but doesn’t overindulge in them either. On a rare occasion, she enjoys a glass of rosé, red wine, a gold beer or limoncello.

List of drinks:

  1. Water with lemon
  2. Cold-pressed juices
  3. Gatorade
  4. Rosé wine
  5. Red wine
  6. Cold beer
  7. Limoncello

Supplements & Vitamins

Queen Bey is a strong believer in using supplements to increase her health and get all the minerals that she needs.

In addition to vitamins, Mrs Carter isn’t shy of using protein powders either. If she’s in a hurry and doesn’t have time for a nutritional meal, she will switch this up with a shake full of vitamins instead.

Her go-to brand is Borges’ 22 Days Protein Powder, which is gluten-free and includes a blend of organic super-foods, protein, stevia and cacao.

So, there you have it – the full low-down on Beyoncé’s diets and what she fuels her body with! With plenty of chefs at hand, it’s easy for this superstar to follow a strict regime, but how do you think you would cope?
