Shanna Moakler Calls Breastfeeding ‘Incestual And Gross,’ Says Her Boobs Are ‘Sexual’
Shanna Moakler bared her breasts for Playboy in 2001, but breasfeeding is something that the actress and former Miss New USA 1995 said crosses parental boundaries, calling the act “incestual” and “gross.”
The discussion of breastfeeding was raised to the 38-year-old “Meet the Barkers” star after a TMZ photographer questioned Moakler about a fact regarding studies that show children who were breastfed as infants are more likely to be thinner as adults.
“I didn’t breastfeed. I was selfish. I just look at my breasts as, like, sexual,” said Moakler, who has a 14-year-old daughter, Atiana de la Hoya, with boxer Oscar De La Hoya, and two children, Alabama Luella, 7, and Landon Asher Barker, 9, with Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker.
“I think it’s incestual. It’s gross. I don’t like it. I couldn’t do it,” said Moakler, who claims she supports a mother’s right to choose. “I totally support it; I think it’s awesome,” she said.

Washington D.C. World Health Organization, or WHO, media relations spokesperson Donna Eberwine-Villagran confirmed Tuesday that the act of breastfeeding is natural and beneficial despite Moakler’s statement.
“Breast milk is the ideal food for newborns and infants. ... It is safe and contains antibodies that help protect infants from common childhood illnesses. ... WHO strongly recommend exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life,” Eberwine-Villagran told the International Business Times.
Moakler's parental choices were previously hammered in 2006, the height of the popularity of her MTV reality series, “Meet the Barkers,” after two seasons of episodes showcased the mother of three's love to sleep and the frequency in which she would pawn her children off onto others. The mother stated the show portrayed her in an unfair light, claiming she is a fit mother.
“I’m very active in making sure my children are well-adjusted and balanced. Contrary to what you’ve read, [my day] does not consist of me sleeping all day. I never had a straight hour of sleep,” Moakler told People in 2006, admitting she did employee a nanny.
