Yash Raj Films submits copy of Sushant Singh Rajput's contract to Mumbai Police
One of Bollywood’s biggest production houses, Yash Raj Films has submitted copies of their contract with late actor Sushant Singh Rajput to Mumbai Police today, reported NDTV.
Rajput, known for starring in critically acclaimed hits like Kai Po Che, M. S. Dhoni: The Untold Story and Chhichhore, had worked with YRF Studios twice in his seven-year Bollywood career – 2013’s Shuddh Desi Romance and Detective Byomkesh Bakshi.
The 34-year-old was found dead in his Bandra apartment on June 14, prompting numerous inquiries, including Bandra Police sending a letter to YRF seeking details of his contract on June 18.
“Accordingly, the Investigation Officer (IO) has received a contract copy from the YRF which was signed by Sushant Singh Rajput,” The Indian Express quoted Abhishek Trimukhe, Deputy Commissioner of Police.
According to Trimukhe, the police have recorded statements of 15 persons, including family members of the actor, his staff, his close friend actor Rhea Chakraborty and of casting director Mukesh Chhabra.
Chakraborty, Rajput’s rumoured girlfriend, told the investigators that the actor had ended his contract with YRF and also asked her to stop working with the banner, said the police.
“Based on the information given by them, the police are verifying the facts,” said DCP Trimukhe.
Rajput was due to work in his third film with the banner, titled Paani, which was to be directed by Shekhar Kapur. However, YRF reportedly backed out of the project.
